What Is Driving You?
Congratulations! You achieved $1,000,000 ARR. What’s next?
If your parents didn’t give you enough attention in your childhood, making more money and becoming popular won’t help you to close that craving for unconditional love and appreciation that you just exist.
You can write the best viral post on social media and get replies from the people you admire, but it won’t be enough. It will never be enough.
No amount of hard work to become successful and being liked by others will make you a person who had a lot of attention from parents in childhood.
You can’t change the past. You can understand it, you can accept it, you can try not to repeat it with your kids. But you can’t change it.
Many entrepreneurs are driven by difficult experiences from their past.
Notice what drives you. Is that desire to be liked? Is that anxiety and fear to live again in the poor conditions? What do you want to prove and to whom?
These drives can drive you really far in your success. But do you want to always be driven by them? It is perpetual suffering.
When you make enough money to live and even reinvest, it might be a good moment to ask what drives you. And see if you can rebalance and rework on that.
Imagine being driven by love, by curiosity, by caring about others. How would it feel? Wouldn’t it make you finally happier and more aligned with what you are doing?
I don’t know the answer. But I wanted to ask the question.
