Review of "System Design Interview - An Insider's Guide" book

A friend of mine recommended I read a book about system design interviews. I was skeptical since I wouldn’t say I like interview preparation and try to attend the interview unprepared to ensure that hiring is based not on lies and fake from my side.

But then we tried to mock the system design interview. And I liked it. In one hour with a partner, you make a detailed design of a scalable system to handle the activities of millions of users. I liked the process so much that I decided to read a book merely out of curiosity.

It took only two days to read it, and it paid off. I enjoyed it so much. I have experience in designing and building complex systems, so I was familiar with most material in the book. Nevertheless, it helped me a lot to structure my knowledge and approach to designing.

I am not sure that I can recommend this book to experienced developers, but for beginners or for somebody who is in the process of interviewing FAANG-like companies, it is a good book.
