LLMs is soup from a nail
They “sell” me LLMs as they can build anything quickly and faster than manual coding, but I only need to design the feature, craft prompts, write tests, update AGENTS(.md), write skills, refactor the code, and review it.
Reminds me of the “soup from a nail” tale:
A traveler (an LLM company) knocked on a door asking for food.
“Sorry,” the hosts (developers) said, “we have nothing.”
“No problem,” the traveler replied. “I can make soup from a nail.”
Curious, the hosts let him try. He dropped a nail into a pot of boiling water and tasted it.
“Hmm… not bad,” he said. “But it would be even better with a little onion.”
They brought an onion.
After a while he tasted it again. “Now it just needs a carrot.”
They brought a carrot.
“Maybe a potato too,” he suggested.
Soon the pot was full of delicious soup, and everyone sat down to eat together.
