As a mediocre software engineer, I am scared as hell

A few options left for us?

  1. Switch to product engineering—by applying your engineering skills to help companies grow MRR, LTV, ARPU, and other terms I recommend to learn ASAP.

  2. Super deep specialization? Not guaranteed but write some code needed for disease research and personalized medicine that identifies variations from a reference DNA sequence, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), insertions, deletions, and structural variants. Who said it should be easy?

  3. Build your own products—not easy, but possible if you can work 24 hours 7 days a week. That’s what I am focused on now, but accidentally. Not because of AI, because it turns out I love that?

  4. Switch to full human-to-human specialties—developers better stop hating marketing and management and start learning from colleagues.

What else can save us?
