Reached $20K MRR. What's next?

Short answer: I will keep building.

Why share all that publicly at all?

Writing to sell you a course or to milk my recent milestone to get more attention could be a reason, so be cautious. But this post is not the case—I wrote it for myself:

1. To clarify my thoughts.

2. If I am lucky, to get feedback.

3. And it might be useful to others at similar points in their journey.

Reviewing my journey helps me frame the next steps, and I would recommend everybody to do the same once in a while.

I quit my job in 2021, later I launched ScreenshotOne (in May 2022), and by September 2024, I reached $10K MRR (almost 3 years). Then, in June 2025 (8 months later), it was $20K. It was a long journey.

$10K was my personal super goal. It was a milestone where I could call myself an entrepreneur. I knew that once I reached it, I would feel that I had made it. And indeed, it worked!

Then I aimed for $20K as a “curiosity” goal, to see if I could reach it and also to have more profit to finally start investing again. And I reached it!

I surpassed my salary. I now have enough money to travel and buy almost whatever we want as a family (except a house, but later about that). Eventually, I lost motivation to earn more money.

I am in a privileged position, and I know it might sound crazy, but I am honest—making more money doesn’t drive me much anymore. It seems that $20K MRR was my turning point to realize that. And I really wish everybody could reach that point to realize it is not the answer, as Jim Carrey beautifully put it once.

But what does drive me then?

Super goals and meaning

I realized that not having a global mission, or super goal, or even convincing meaning in life, it is alright:

1. There is a lot in life without it and it doesn’t make it less fun: grow your kids to be nice humans, talk to your parents, stay healthy, make your customers happy, travelling, reading, hiking, camping with friends, and so much more.

2. I have a few candidates for such a global mission. But I question if that’s the right way to approach the life at all? I want my mission to build up authentically and

3. And there are many things I can do almost forever with some recovery breaks and one of them is building products.

Building products

I like everything about building products: coding them, growing MRR, fixing churn, marketing, getting feedback, sleepless nights (?), working with people, and making my customers happy. All of it!

And that’s what I will keep doing. I will grow one or a few products to $100k MRR because it is a fun challenge to tackle. I will build side projects for fun. I will partner with people.

Yes, $10k MRR was my personal goal. $20k MRR, too. But $100k MRR is the goal for my business, not for me. They might coincide, but now business goals and personal goals are different. And my goal is to keep building such a business that can achieve this goal.

Building is what wakes me up and makes me excited. Why not keep doing it? And by the way, that’s also what most people keep doing past achieving their money goals:

And now honestly

$20k MRR is a huge number and a lot of money. But we still can’t buy a house.

Also, my business can go out because of competition, AGI or something else I don’t see.

I didn’t earn enough money to retire completely. Money will be still a huge part of my life. It is just less so in my mind. I am lucky and I feel I earned it—to spend some time having fun and focus on what I am excited the most.
